
Screen-Acting: An Introduction

Om Kurs
A two-day workshop for professional actors, led by Irish Film Director Yvonne McDevitt. The workshop is a collaboration with Beaivváš Sámi Našunálateáhter in Kautokeino.
This applied workshop will explore:
- How to build a good creative relationship with your director
- How to understand exactly what is required of you as an actor for film
- How to prepare yourself for camera
- How to improvise for camera
- How to work with other actors on camera
- How to maximise your potential on film
- How to get acting work in independent films both in the US and internationally
This workshop will give you a basic, and applied introduction to acting for film, using cutting-edge digital film equipment and technology.
(Suitable for beginners.)
Preparation: No preparation is needed for the workshop, nor is it necessary to do any further work between the workshop days.
Workshop language: Speaking language and working language. You can work in your mother tongue with text, but you have to be able to communicate in English with the instructor.
Accommodation
Beaivváš Sámi Našunálateáhter can offer accommodation to a low price. You can stay in one of Beaivváš Theatre’s appartements in Kautokeino, for a total fee of NOK 400,-.

Instruktør
Yvonne McDevitt read Drama at Trinity College Dublin. Thereafter she was a Dramaturg for Robert Wilson at L’Opéra Bastille in Paris.
After Artistic Associateships at the Royal Court, Young Vic and National Theatres in London, her productions played on the main-stages of Russia (Hermitage Theatre, Moscow), France (Théâtre National Populaire, Lyon) and Norway (National Theatre, Oslo).
She was awarded a JERWOOD DIRECTORS AWARD at the Young Vic Theatre in 2002, and the JUDITH E. WILSON Drama Fellowship, at the University of Cambridge, 2004-06.
Her first poetry film — 2GRAVES — with music by Oscar-nominated composer Michael Nyman — premiered at the East End Film Festival in London in 2013. She was selected for BERLINALE TALENTS at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival in 2014. HORSE — her first short film, edited by French Editor, Nelly Quettier (César-nominated for — HOLY MOTORS (2012) — by Leos Carax), premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2014. TIME — her second short film, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015. عمى BLINDNESS — premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. She was awarded the French Language Bursary at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, 2018.
ВНУТРИ (INSIDE) was completed in 2020 and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021, and MYRRH — shot in Valais, Switzerland — is currently in post-production in Copenhagen and due for release in 2022. She is currently Film Artist in Residence at UCC, Ireland.
KNOCK KNOCK — her next feature film — has been awarded the Irish Arts Council & Irish Film Institute — Authored Film Work Award (2022).
Deltakerkriterier
Åpent for profesjonelle skuespillere, dvs. med godkjent treårig utdanning på høyskolenivå i utøvende skuespillerkunst, eller tilsvarende profesjonell skuespillererfaring.

Kurset arrangeres på Internasjonalt Samisk Filminstitutt (ISFI)
